Learning Objectives

The workshop aims to provide participants with hands-on exposure to fundamental techniques of uniportal and biportal endoscopic lumbar surgery, with emphasis on:

Endoscopic discectomy
Decompression for lumbar spinal stenosis
Endoscopic fusion procedures
Portal planning and endoscopic orientation
Neural-element identification and protection
Management of complications and technical challenges

Steps to be Performed

Participants will learn and perform:

1 Patient positioning, surface anatomy, portal planning, and optimal working-channel orientation.
2 Principles of endoscopic discectomy, including lamina, facet, ligamentum flavum, and nerve root identification.
3 Endoscopic decompression for stenosis (laminotomy, medial facetectomy, flavectomy).
4 Ipsilateral and contralateral decompression for lateral recess and foraminal stenosis.
5 Control of epidural and foraminal bleeding using radiofrequency & hemostatic methods.
6 Endoscopic lumbar fusion: discectomy, endplate prep, interbody grafting, and cage insertion.
7 Pitfalls & troubleshooting: managing dural tears, neural handling, and instrument issues.
8 Hands-on endoscopic visualization and tactile feedback on high-quality cadaver specimens.
